Who am I?
Thomas Alexander Lysaa, Senior Cloud Security Architect is an experienced professional with over 10 years experience in the IT industry. Thomas started gravitating towards security focused assignments in 2015 and has a great track record for applying security architecture, controls, processes, and policies with multiple Fortune 500 companies.
One of the early tasks given during the start of the career was to deploy the entire Microsoft Defender suite and set up various guardrails in Azure and M365. Throughout this cloud journey it was developed a true passion for Cloud Security, and working within the Microsoft public cloud. Since then has developed and delivered multiple security strategies to help strengthen the security posture and remediate gaps following a diverse set of security standards. This overall experience brings together a wide knowledge of applying security solutions within the Microsoft product offerings in the cloud, while staying up to date with current trends and newly released product offerings. Experience extends across the entire Microsoft ecosystem including Azure workloads, M365 (Sentinel, Entra ID, Intune and Purview), and Defender (MDO, MDE, MDI, MDCA, MDC) encompassing all SaaS/IaaS/PaaS based offerings. Able to create custom KQL queries where already has developed over 200 queries that can be applied towards Log Analytics Workspaces, Microsoft Graph, and Azure Resource Graph.
Workload as a certified Microsoft Security professional evolves around applying architecture, and configurations for secure end-to-end solutions. Experience with creation of custom Jupyter Notebooks where also utilized the msticpy library for InfoSec investigation and hunting purposes.
Past work experience includes multiple other security vendors such as Rapid 7, Thycotic, Okta, CrowdStrike, Mimecast, Zscaler, Darktrace, Tenable, Cisco, Palo Alto, Check Point, and Wiz.
During personal time enjoys to give back through volunteer opportunities. One of them as a Website Admin for Mara Action Aid, where the organization works to provide Masai children in Kenya opportunities, and hope for the future. Mara Action Aid is a nonprofit organization so all work is performed as a volunteer to give back to the less fortunate (maraactionaid.no/en). Volunteer work also includes efforts with the CyberPatriots program as a technical mentor for the Air & Space Forces Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity (uscyberpatriot.org).
